Contributions

We believe in giving and have learned to give in a variety of ways. Below is a brief outline of some of our efforts.

Joseph Homsany is the president of Patronato de Nutrición (Nutrition Board), a non-profit organization that was created 16 years ago by a group of concerned private investors in Panama. Patronato de Nutrición recognized the malnutrition problem throughout the remote areas of Panama. The board’s mission is to educate rural communities in order for them to organize themselves into farm cooperatives, thus becoming nutritionally and economically independent. The Patronato operates with the help of private donations and volunteers.

Farm sponsors provide the funds needed to start the farm and provide education. The community benefiting from the farm must take care of it, and the Patronato organizes a board of directors. The farmland is owned by the Patronato at first and remains so until the community passes inspection after a probation period. This period can last up to three years. Thereafter, the land title is turned over to the board of directors of the farm, thus becoming the community’s farm and not just one individual’s.

With the proper management of this program, over 33,000 Panamanians live with dignity and pride in 340 communities located in remote areas throughout Panama. The Patronato provides an opportunity for families to have a better future and to assist the people in managing their own development by turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Engineer Joseph Homsany also oversees investments in nature. For years, some of the world’s most industrialized nations have depleted their natural resources. We have done our part to see that this does not occur in Panama. For nature lovers, and particularly birdwatchers, throughout the world there are 1,900 species of birds, and Panama is home to 1,300 of those species. On our own, we have also replanted 1,800 hectares (4,448 acres) of teak trees. This provides us with a number of encouraging results. First, we have a reforestation program in place, and our company, Inversiones Hope, S.A. is the managing company that oversees the entire program. It offers a product that is becoming increasingly difficult to find. We replant and manage the growth of the trees. The Government of Panama has a residency visa available for those who invest in Panama by establishing a registered reforestation project such as Inversiones Hope, S.A. has done.

We have also invested in purchasing 840 hectares (2,076 acres) of rainforest. It is just that: virgin rainforest! We intend to maintain these forests in their natural state just as we received them. In time, we hope to make them available to those who love to see nature as it is intended to be.

Engineer Homsany had also led the way for The Group. With his ability to bring people together, we have been able to accomplish much more than individuals could ever do alone. We recognize the importance of coming together as a group to work jointly in making Panama and, ultimately, the world a better place. We have an open-door policy, and if any of our efforts interests you, please contact us. We can assist you in investing in Panama which will allow you to be involved in projects such as Patronato de Nutrición.

All our officers and directors are involved in a number of non-profit organizations. These are just a few: Patronato de Nutrición, B’nai B’rith and the Association of Panama Reforestation.
